Lotte Kopecky, born on November 10, 1995 in Rumst, Belgium, started cycling at the age of nine. Like her older brother, she focused on cyclo-cross. But since cyclo-cross is not an Olympic discipline, she switched to road and track cycling. Kopecky has established herself as one of the world’s top female cyclists, excelling in both endurance and sprint events. In June 2021 Kopecky signed a contract with Team SD Worx, where she is surrounded by other top riders.

Kopecky’s brother sadly committed suicide in 2023 – a tragedy that deeply affected Lotte and her family. Lotte Kopecky later said that without her brother, she probably never would have taken up cycling as her sport.

Kopecky’s racing style

Kopecky’s racing style is defined by her remarkable versatility. She combines power with endurance, making her a formidable competitor across various terrains and race formats. On the road, Kopecky’s skills as a ‘puncheur’ – a rider suited for short but steep climbs – make her especially competitive in challenging classics and one-day races.

During her career she also improved her climbing and time trial skills, so she became one of the most allround cyclists.
